New Year-New You

And so it is…we start again.  A new year full of dreams, resolutions, activities, and events. Many remember our grandparents telling us to “slow down”, because as you get older, the years fly by.  It is still 365 days but, in some sense, they seem to be correct in this advice.  Nonetheless, we embrace a new calendar year and put our focus once again on health, hope and healing. New Year-New You is always a great time to resolve to put more energy into a healthy lifestyle.


1) Have you ever created a VISION BOARD? Try creating one with images from one or all three suggestions below.

 A) Diet: You can make a simple adjustment to your diet by adding more fruits and vegetables, lean meats and fish, and less sugar. (Time to move on from those Holiday cookies!) Don’t be afraid to get creative in the kitchen, or to try new foods from your local grocery store.

 B) Exercise: Engaging in one of your favorite physical activities for just 20 or 30 minutes can make a huge difference in your health. Physical activity means MOVEMENT. Gym activities, sports activities, or even home improvement burns calories. Pushing the furniture back after taking down the Holiday decorations is a great way to start. When was the last time you did a push-up? When was the last time you walked around the block? How much weight did you lift last year…go ahead and add 5 more pounds? You won’t know unless you try.

 C) Mindset: Positive mindset is just as important as our physical health. C.S. Lewis once said, “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” Be fearless in the pursuit of a new perspective, a new direction…a new energy.


 2) We know that those who suffer from aches and pain sometimes need a day to just rest and relax. But we know how to play for fun too! January 28 is National Fun at Work Day. If you work within a team, what are you going to do to engage and encourage each other? If you work solo, or remotely, what will you do to brighten your day, or your office area? Most importantly, keep the morale up…we’ve got 11 more months ahead.
